Battery Not Charging or Holding Charge
Problem
Solar battery system is not charging or drains quickly.
Solution
1. Check battery management system (BMS) for error codes. 2. Verify charging settings in the inverter/battery system. 3. Check for loose battery connections. 4. Ensure batteries are in a temperature-controlled environment. 5. Test individual battery cells if possible. 6. Batteries degrade over time - expect 10-20% capacity loss after 10 years.
Grid Connection Issues
Problem
System is not exporting power to the grid or shows grid fault.
Solution
1. Check with utility provider for grid outages in your area. 2. Verify anti-islanding protection settings. 3. Check grid voltage and frequency readings on inverter. 4. Ensure all grid disconnection switches are closed. 5. Do not attempt to reconnect if utility has disconnected your system. 6. Contact both installer and utility for coordination.
Inverter Shows Error or No Display
Problem
The solar inverter is showing error codes or has no display lights.
Solution
1. Check AC and DC breakers in your electrical panel. 2. Verify grid connection is active. 3. Restart the inverter by turning off DC switch, waiting 30 seconds, then turning back on. 4. Check for firmware updates from manufacturer. 5. If error persists, contact technician - do not attempt internal repairs.
Monitoring System Offline
Problem
Solar monitoring app or portal shows no data or "offline" status.
Solution
1. Check your home WiFi connection. 2. Verify the monitoring gateway has power. 3. Restart your router and the monitoring gateway. 4. Check if the inverter has connectivity LEDs. 5. Ensure firmware is up to date. 6. Contact support if issue persists after 24 hours.
Reduced Energy Production
Problem
System is producing significantly less energy than expected.
Solution
1. Compare current output to historical data for same season. 2. Check for new shading sources. 3. Inspect panels for dirt, bird droppings, or debris. 4. Verify all panels are connected (one disconnected panel affects the whole string). 5. Check inverter efficiency rating. 6. Schedule professional inspection if output is below 80% of expected.
Solar Panels Not Producing Power
Problem
Solar panels are not generating any electricity despite sunny weather.
Solution
1. Check inverter display for error codes. 2. Verify all panel connections are secure. 3. Check for shading from new obstacles (trees, buildings). 4. Clean panel surfaces if dirty. 5. Test each panel individually with a multimeter. 6. If one panel fails, it may be blocking the entire string.
